SteadmanTech, Photographing One Client for Another
August 2009 - This summer United Health Services distributed a special issue of their Stay
Healthy Magazine focused on minimally invasive surgery. Gary was asked to provide the photography for this issue and it was a special bonus since the subject was to be another SteadmanTech client, Laura Panella of Endwell Family Physicians in Endwell, NY.
Laura had recently undergone minimally invasive surgery and represented an excellent
example of the benefits of the technique. For
me, it was fun to photograph this client for
the sake of another client. Thanks for a fun

Photography by Gary H Steadman Graces Cover of UHS Stay Healthy Magazine
Greater Binghamton, NY
November 24, 2008 - You may have seen Gary Steadman's work recently shown prominently on the
cover of this fall's Stay Healthy Magazine produced by United Health
Services. The photography was to illustrate the feature story for the
issue which focused on Binghamton area resident and UHS patient Rose
Espinal. Rose suffered from chronic sinus headaches and was one of the
first to undergo balloon sinuplasty treatment at United Health Services.
Rose's story was one of relieving pressure and our photo shoot had an
ironic sense of similarity in that the shoot was overshadowed by the pressure
of squeezing it in between thunderstorm outbursts rolling through the
area that day. With one eye on the sky for the threat of lightning, we
were able to pull the shoot off and get the shots we needed.
Gary Steadman Speaks to Area High School Students
October 21, 2008 - Invited to participate as a presenter for our area's Learning For Life program, today Gary Steadman spoke to a group of interested Vestal High School freshmen and sophomores. Students in attendance had expressed an interest in Professional Photography as a potential career path for their future.
Earlier in the school year students of area high schools were asked to fill out Student Career Interest Surveys provided as part of the Learning for Life program. Throughout the school year, program organizers with the cooperation of high school Guidance Counselors have invited area professionals to act as presenters covering career areas of greatest interest to students.
Gary's presentation gave students an opportunity to see what a Commercial Photographer does by presenting an audio/visual display of his commercial photography and his digital imaging art. The on-screen presentation not only showed Gary's work but also showed how that work is ultimately used in advertising, web sites, brochures, packaging, catalogs and more.
The visual presentation was followed by a question and answer session where students had the opportunity to learn more about this potential career path, how to get started and what to expect. Their questions were insightful and engaging. The Guidance Counselor in attendance for Gary's presentation commented that this career choice, and by extension today's presentation, was one of the most popular of the years offerings.

Some of this photography is reflected throughout the web site giving site visitors a hint of the people and places they could expect to see when they come to participate with the company in their clinical trials.

SteadmanTech Creates Visuals for Nationwide Retail Campaign
February 2005 SteadmanTech Creative Services was contracted by the Famous Footwear creative department to create the visual display artwork for use in their retail stores across the nation. The SteadmanTech artwork goes on display this month nationwide, and will remain as the featured visual presentation for the spring collection throughout the season.
SteadmanTech owner, Gary H Steadman, was provided with hundreds of images showing the Famous Footwear spring products. By combining those individual photos together he was able to create the composite images shown here depicting a butterfly, baseball and flower. Each of the three image composites are the result of many hours of very detailed work with special attention paid to layering, blending and creating shadows that will result in a convincing final product.
“The goal with this project was to create the illusion that these composites were actually created in camera as opposed to at a later time in the computer.” says Gary Steadman, owner of SteadmanTech in Vestal, NY. “The reason this could not be accomplished in camera, was that in most cases, the specific shoes required in these composites simply were not available in the quantities (and sizes) necessary for the project.”
The artwork was created for use at very large scale adding to the complexity of the work to be done. Printed at very high quality and at scales up to 30" wide and above, the image files required were very large, some exceeding 1GB in size.
A more detailed look at each of the three images can be viewed using the links below.
SteadmanTech Artistry Featured in National Ad Promotion
December 2004 SteadmanTech Creative Services was recently contracted by the Famous Footwear creative department to work on a national marketing campaign. Famous Footwear is the number one retailer of value brand name shoes, with over 900 stores nationwide, and more than $1 billion in annual sales. SteadmanTech was selected, based on a referral, for skill and expertise in high-end digital image editing.
SteadmanTech owner, Gary H Steadman, created a composite image of a holiday wreath using single photographs of boots to promote sale of the product line during the holiday season. The photo representation was used as a point of sale display, on the company’s web site, in promotional pieces, and in ad campaigns run in local, and regional media nationwide.
“The creative team had a vision for how we wanted to communicate our holiday sale to our customers, and Gary’s work fit into that plan beautifully,” said Darylnn Choles, a Senior Art Director with Famous Footwear, based in Madison, Wisconsin. “The campaign is fun and fresh, and the photographic art really makes it stand out to shoppers.”
According to Famous Footwear, markets where Steadman’s photo composite was used significantly outperformed markets where it was not used. FamousFootwear.com completely sold out of every color and size of the boots featured in the composite and became one of the best performing product lines ever on the website. In-store sales for the moon boots tripled in markets where the ads featuring Steadman’s artwork were distributed.
“It was a very successful promotion and we have already begun working with SteadmanTech on our Spring collection,” stated Choles.
Steadman has been living and working in the Greater Binghamton region since 2000. Previously, he worked in the competitive Chicago photography market for high profile clients such as Jim Beam, Motor Coach Industries, McDonalds, Sears, Lands End, Wilson Sporting Goods, and Miller Brewing Company.
